Rockie Penningtonhas been a fixture in Republican politics for nearly four decades. During this time he played a crucial role in turning Florida from a solid “blue” state to Republican red. He has successfully guided hundreds of candidates at all levels through tough and bruising campaigns.
Pennington has served in leadership capacities for a variety of Republican committees, including Executive Director of the Republican Party of Florida, Executive Director of the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee, and Chief Consultant to the Senate Republican Campaign Committee. He has also directed fundraising efforts on behalf of the Republican parties in Washington State and Wisconsin.
His leadership and expertise have helped make history for Florida Republicans.
As the Consultant to the Senate Campaign Committee from 1988 – 1992, Pennington led the drive that more than doubled Republican representation in the Florida Senate (from 9 members to 20). This resulted in the election of Florida’s first Republican Senate President.
In the 1996 election his candidate’s upset victory ultimately led to the election of the firstRepublican Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.
Rockie founded Southern Campaign Resources in 1981 as a full-service strategic consulting firm focusing on legislative and congressional races. In the 90s he purchased Direct Mail Systems and founded Summit Communications to provide a seamless web for campaign messaging and communications delivery. Today, his companies provide a one-stop shop for general consulting, survey research, voter-contact mail, radio & TV advertising, website design, and voter email communication.
